Hello, Steamboat Springs, Colorado!
My one-act play Out of Joint, commissioned by the Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp, will be opening tonight at Perry-Mansfield’s Julie Harris Theatre. The world premiere is directed by Victor Maog and will be performed by nine of the actors in P-M’s 2011 Pre-Professional Intensive. And it has been intense!!! Working with student actors — many of whom have never worked on a world premiere script — has been an exciting and educational experience. In addition, the designers for the play have done a top notch job; the picture below (snapped on my cell phone) doesn’t do it justice. Come see the fruits of our labors at two of the three performances that are open to the public on July 14 and 15, 2011. It’s a truly stunning production.
Out of Joint will be performed alongside a new one-act musical called The Moon by Otis Sallid, Aaron Jones, and Ronobir Lahiri.
From the Perry-Mansfield press release:
Perry-Mansfield Board President Jim Steinberg stated, “Perry-Mansfield is excited and fortunate to have the talents of A. Rey Pamatmat and Otis Sallid collaborating with our Director of Theatre and Musical Theatre, Victor Maog, this summer. Mr. Pamatmat, recent winner of the prestigious 2011 PONY Fellowship, as well as a 2010 Princess Grace Fellow, is one of America’s most exciting emerging playwrights. His new one-act play, Out of Joint, was written for Perry-Mansfield students and will have its World Premiere on the Perry-Mansfield campus on July 14.”

Dr. Kajish creates a time travel formula to save mankind by giving it endless second chances. But as people skip indiscriminately through time humiliating enemies, saving lives, and negotiating perfect vacations, the universe unravels in this romp through the recent future, the distant present, and a past still to come.
Performances are July 13 – 15, 2011. Tickets and information for both P-M Premieres can be found here.
