American Theatre Company 10 x 10 Festival: Ferguson

8 Mar

Tomorrow at Chicago’s American Theatre Company there will be a free evening of short plays all written in response to last summer’s (and fall’s) events in Ferguson, Missouri (and beyond). Information can be found on the Facebook event page here. Please join us and help transform this painful moment in history into a positive one, inspiring action.

My pieces I Am in a Dark Place Today and Am Unable to Write a Play and Winning will be directed by Hutch Pimentel, who directed the First Floor Theater production of Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them earlier in the year. I discuss them and talk generally about playwriting in this interview on Jacqueline Lawton’s blog, where you can also find interviews of all of this year’s 10 x 10 playwrights.

My last time in the 10 x 10 Festival I ended up writing a scene that evolved into House Rules. So thank you American Theatre Company for asking me to participate again and on an issue that has really made my head spin.
